![]() If you had to place a large wager on it, do you know what kind of shavings your customers really want? A good retailer is constantly trying to increase their profits and sales. Ideally, your company does a good job of balancing both. Hear me out for a minute and I might just be able to change your mind on this shavings thing. Most retailers have someone that is in charge of ordering all the shavings for their store, multiple stores, or even entire company. This person tends to be super busy, trying to juggle all sorts of different ordering responsibilities while maximizing profits for the company at the same time. Usually it is easier for them to continue ordering from the same company, or order all the shavings from one supplier. This may not work best for the customer however. Retailers also tend to offer different types of bedding for different customers. Some customers expect cheaper bedding and others are looking for higher quality. I might suggest a good, better, best strategy for your shavings sales. Let's look at things in detail for a minute. Why does that specific customer come to your store? A customer comes into your store because there is a level of trust between you and them. They may have a special relationship with you, or they might even like dealing with you because you carry a better mix of product for their needs. No matter what they are looking for, the customer is in front of you because they trust you and your store to help. You should solidify that trust by always offering a good, better, and best selection of products on all your best selling merchandise. Shavings should always be included in this merchandise. By utilizing this approach, every customer has the choice to buy what they want without feeling the pressure to buy more or less than they need. As long as there is a clear line of value going up and down on the product selection, then the customer will make the decision and you get to keep their trust by offering options for their needs. What happens if you don't keep that level of trust? Customer service issues, complaints, and time wasted trying to constantly fix problems. You may even eventually lose the customer. In the new economy where Amazon is the king of distribution, customer service matters more than anything else. A customer can buy shavings from almost anywhere, but they come to your store because they can get a better selection of products or better service. Sometimes all customers need is a little expertise from someone that knows why a better product will last longer or work better. When it comes to shavings in your store you should treat them like all other high volume products. Offer good, better, and best selections in your shavings selections and see how much more the business can grow. Great pure virgin wood shavings, pellets, and sawdust. Pine River Bedding.
